Chris Morel

Chris Morel (b. 1958) is a Taos-based landscape painter known for his luminous depictions of the Southwest. Trained at Towson University, he worked as a commercial artist before settling in northern New Mexico in 1994. Inspired by the region’s light and landscape, Morel paints primarily in oil, blending plein-air observation with refined studio technique. His work reflects a deep connection to place and the enduring artistic traditions of Taos and the American West.
